Canadian Military signs deal to test anti-anthrax inhaler on animals

Canadian Defence officials have signed a $2.9-million deal with a U.S. firm (Aradigm Corp. of California) to develop an anti-anthrax inhaler. Once the technical work on the mechanics of the device is done, in about two years, the company will start clinical trials at a containment facility using anthrax and animal test subjects, probably mice.

Candlelight Vigil at Dail Eireann
The Irish Anti-Vivisection Society (IAVS) and the Animal Rights Action Network (ARAN) held a candlelight vigil outside Dail Eireann on Kildare Street on Friday 10 December from 6:00pm to 7:30pm to mark International Animal Rights Day.

Competitiveness Council mulls REACH proposal

A joint proposal by the UK and Hungarian governments that would allow chemical companies to share the cost of testing to comply with the new REACH legislation has received the support of the European Union’s Competitiveness Council.
