The European Centre for the Validation of Alternative Methods (ECVAM), part of the Joint Research Centre (JRC), is seeking to reduce animal testing as part of the upcoming EU directive that aims to abolish animal testing in scientific experiments if an alternative test exists.

Shareholders resolutions to end animal testing
PETA - USA
... shareholders of some of the largest publicly traded companies will be voting on resolutions submitted by PETA or by shareholders on PETA’s behalf. Most of the resolutions are part of PETA’s "Give the Animals 5" Campaign, which seeks to end the use of rabbits and other animals in painful tests that involve injecting animals with drugs or applying chemicals to their shaved skin. PETA is asking the companies to implement effective and available non-animal test methods that use human cells and human blood and that are in use in the European Union, Canada, and other countries.
